The Fulbright Commission of the U.S. Educational Foundation in Nepal (USEF-Nepal) seeks highly qualified candidates for the full-time professional position of Senior Program Officer (SPO). The SPO’s principal duties include the initiation and management of a combination of Nepali and U.S. Fulbright grant programs, outreach and public relations, program administration and other activities geared towards fulfilling the Nepal Fulbright Commission’s objectives and goals. In keeping with USEF-Nepal’s small and flexible nature, the SPO also assists the Executive Director with any aspect of the Commission’s operations, as and when required.
This position requires traveling to field sites at least 4-5 times a year.
- A master’s degree, preferably from a recognized American college or university.
- Outstanding spoken and written English language skills, including strong public speaking skills required. Strong Nepali language skills desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
- Self-motivation and ability to work as a team-player.
- Work experience in the education sector preferred.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills required.
- Nepali citizenship required.
The SPO manages all aspects of the Nepali and US Fulbright Programs, including responding to program inquiries, making interview arrangements for the various scholarships, and updating program descriptions along with reviewing and revising selection criteria when necessary. The SPO is responsible for establishing and maintaining program reporting requirements and planning and facilitation in-country orientation and other programs. The SPO is responsible for clear communication of program rules, policies and procedures to stakeholders along with maintaining good working relationships with all grantees throughout the grant period. The SPO, under the guidance of the Executive Director, will undertake key management and outreach activities to ensure that the Commission meets all its program-related recruitment and strategic objectives. The SPO's role will include supervisory/mentorship responsibilities.
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some overtime work on evenings and weekends will be required.
The position offers a competitive salary and benefits. The first six months of employment will be on probation. After the probation period, the candidate will be evaluated and considered for a full-time staff position with all benefits.
