| Public Lecture on Public Policy Management Education |

On September 12, in collaboration with the Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) and Kathmandu University School of Management's (KUSOM) Master of Public Policy and Management Program, USEF-N held a public lecture on “Higher Public Policy and Management Education and Collaborative Public Management for Professional Development.” More than 40 attendees delved into the relationship between collaborative public management and effective professional growth. They also discussed ethical principles that influence decision-making, leadership, and organizational culture.
Speakers at the event included Prof. Achyut Wagle, Registrar of Kathmandu University, and Prof. Rosemary O’Leary, a Fulbright Specialist at KUSOM. Mr. Binod Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration), and Prof. Bhola Thapa, Vice-Chancellor, Kathmandu University, also engaged with the attendees and shared their insights. |

| Fulbright Enrichment Retreat |
| On September 23-24, 16 American grantees currently in Nepal gathered in Dhulikhel to share their plans and experiences to date. The Scholars, Student Researchers, and Specialists presented their ongoing and anticipated research, while the English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) shared their experiences teaching English in public schools in Kathmandu, Kailali, and Kavre. On Day 1, Dr. Sagar Prasai, a Fulbright East-West Center Program alum, opened the program with a presentation on “The Culture of Planning in the Nepali State: A Case Study of Implementing Federalism in Nepal.” Day 2 was hosted by Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS). Dr. Biraj Karmacharya (2011, Science and Technology Program) and Dr. Archana Shrestha (2010, Master’s and Science and Technology Program), both Fulbright alums from the University of Washington, facilitated the event and provided a tour of the KUSMS area that included a meeting with Dr. Ram Kanta Makaju Shrestha, Executive Director of Dhulikhel Hospital and former Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University.

| On September 25, USEF-N conducted a second mid-year check-in for the six ETAs currently serving in Nepal. They spent the day sharing their school and homestay experiences and reporting on ongoing projects at their respective schools. The session was filled with meaningful exchanges, group discussion of individual or shared challenges, and joint problem solving. |

| | Visiting Scholar Program National Conference |
| On September 27, USEF-N hosted a Visiting Scholar Program National Conference in Kathmandu. More than 50 Visiting Scholar alumni and current grantees representing a diverse array of fields, discussed the impact and future directions collaborative research and educational exchange between Nepal and the United States. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Pramila Devi Bajracharya, Secretary (Science and Technology), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Dr. Purna Nepali, President of the Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) and former Visiting Scholar in Agrarian and Rural Studies at Brandeis University shared his Fulbright research experience and shed light on FAAN's plans to collaborate with USEF-N in increasing FAAN's diversity and impact. |

| On September 1, USEF-N collaborated with the Center for Natural and Applied Sciences in organizing a Fulbright Program Information and Alumni Interaction Session in Kathmandu. Dr. Menuka Maharjan (2024, Environmental Science, United States Department of Agriculture) and Dr. Shyam Narayan Labh (2020, Nutrigenomics, University of Idaho) presented their research topics and offered valuable suggestions on the Fulbright application process. Dr. Buddha Ram Shah (2023, Physics, Northwestern University) and Dr. Sanju Shrestha (2021, Physics, New Jersey Institute of Technology) were also present to talk about their Fulbright journey and the Visiting Scholar application experience. Additionally, Dr. Ramawatar Yadav, (1989, Linguistics, University of Kentucky), interacted with attendees and shared his expertise. Fifty rospective applicants for the Global UGRAD, Master's, and Visiting Scholar Programs attended the event to hear from Fulbright alumni and to ask them questions directly.

| EducationUSA South Asia Tour |
| The EducationUSA South Asia Tour to Nepal from September 11 to 17 was a tremendous success. A total of 2,974 students met with representatives from 20 U.S. colleges and universities at one-day fairs in Pokhara and Kathmandu. Students gained first-hand information about the universities, programs offered, and the requirements for financial aid. Additionally, 1600 students met with college and university representatives during their visits to colleges in and around Pokhara and Kathmandu. The events also provided participants an opportunity to learn from U.S. Embassy personnel about student visa requirements in the United States. |
