| An important goal of USEF-Nepal is to increase interest in and applications for the Fulbright program from throughout the country, ensuring that the program’s impact extends beyond Kathmandu and other urban centers. During January, staff traveled to multiple locations to conduct outreach and information sessions for interested students. Our thanks to the Fulbright alumni who participated in these events, sharing their experiences and enthusiasm with prospective Fulbrighters. |

|  | Fulbright Outreach Programs | USEF-N conducted multiple virtual and in-person information sessions around Nepal during January. On January 8th, a virtual information session focused on the Fulbright Teacher Excellence Achievement (TEA) Award Program, which sends secondary-level teachers of English, English as a foreign language, math, science, foreign languages, journalism, communication, and social studies, including special education teachers in those subjects, for a six-week program in the United States. The virtual session featured TEA alumnus Bibas Thapa (2021, University of North Carolina) who shared his experience with attendees. On January 19th, in collaboration with the Forum for Women Teachers, USEF-N conducted an in-person session on the TEA program at the Innovation Hub in Teku. A special thank you to the Vice-President of the Forum for Women Teachers and TEA program alumni Rita Tiwari (2017, University of North Carolina), and Dil Budhathoki (2022, University of Massachusetts), who served as resource persons. On January 27th, staff conducted information sessions for the TEA and Fulbright Master’s programs at COHED Education Foundation in Birtamod, Jhapa with the support of the Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA), a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit organization committed to enhancing English-language teaching in the country.

| USEF-Nepal's EducationUSA Advising Center conducted U.S. University Fairs in Pokhara and Kathmandu on January 29th and February 3rd. The fairs, which were free of charge, enabled Nepali students exploring undergraduate study in the United States to meet with university representatives in person. Representatives from 10 U.S. universities and 330 students participated in the Pokhara fair and representatives from 23 U.S. universities and 3007 students participated in Kathmandu. At the fairs, U.S. Embassy Consular Officers conducted information sessions for the students, providing helpful advice on the visa application process and debunking myths surrounding it. |
|  | During January, EducationUSA advisers welcomed Opportunity Funds Program students home from the United States on their winter break to the Advising Center in Kathmandu. The students provided updates on their experiences in the United States, helping to inform future guidance. |

| Fulbright alumni were active during January. TEA Program alumna Bibas Thapa conducted an information session at Shree Bishnu Jyoti Adharbhut Bidhyalaya in Hetauda and alumnus Chandra Koirala (2022, Humanities, Montana State University) led a session for teachers at his own school- Shree Panchadev Secondary School in Kalikot. Both shared their tips for writing and submitting successful applications and discussed their exchange experiences in the United States. |

| On January 22nd, the Nepal Association of Humphrey Fellows (NAHF) continued its talk series on Creating a Conducive Investment Climate in Nepal at the Nepal Tourism Board. The program commenced with a presentation by Sushil Bhatta, CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Ghanashyam Ojha, an infrastructue development professional, with Baburam Gautam, Director General of the Department of Industry, Radhesh Pant, former CEO of IBN, and Karvika Thapa, CEO of Kimbu Tech. |
