Grant Benefits
- International round‐trip air travel for Scholar and one dependent accompanying the grantee for at least 80% of the grant period
- A monthly stipend

- A dependent allowance is payable for dependents accompanying the grantee for at least 80% of the grant period
- Accident and sickness insurance
- J-Visa sponsorship for the Scholar and accompanying spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21
In many cases, U.S. host institutions also provide support for the Fulbright SIR in the form of cost‐sharing. The amount and type of cost‐sharing provided by each institution, which is described in the institutional proposal, may be in the form of a stipend/salary supplement and/or an in‐kind contribution, such as housing, a dining hall meal pass, funds for conference travel, etc.
