Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program Academic Year 2023-2024
Deadline: February 15, 2023
Plans for Other Campus Activities
In addition to teaching, advising, and lecturing, the Scholar will also be invited to participate in other campus activities. For example, the Scholar will be invited to various faculty meetings to interact with faculty members. Also, the Scholar will speak about his/her country and its culture to the various student clubs, such as the Women in Tech Club, the Computer Science Club, and the Student Government Association. The SIR will be a member of several campus committees including the International Students Committee, International Cultural Festival Committee and the International Students Association. The scholar will be asked to work with the Study Abroad and Global MBA Trip committees to offer advice on selecting host sites.
Community Outreach:
HT is one of five members of a Consortium of Texas Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) called the Texas Association of Developing Colleges (TADC). By mutual agreement and cooperation, HT will share the Scholar with the members of this consortium via video conferencing and in-person lectures.
In addition, the Scholar will be invited to meet with the various Chambers of Commerce including the African American, the Hispanic, the Asian, and the Texas Association of African American Chambers of Commerce (TAAACC). The Scholar will be a guest at different events sponsored by Blackshear Elementary School, Kealing Middle School, and Austin Community College.
Also, the Scholar will have opportunities to establish contacts and learn more about American society through attendance of local festivals on and off-campus, holiday events like the University’s Serve-the-Students Thanksgiving event, and traditional religious and non-religious ceremonies and celebrations of this region.
