The Fulbright Commission in Nepal was established in 1961 through a treaty between the governments of the United States and Nepal. The Commission is overseen by a bi-national board, chaired by the U.S. Embassy and with five American members and five Nepalese members. Since its establishment, the Commission has brought over 700 American scholars, students, and professionals to Nepal, while supporting more than 700 Nepali students and scholars to travel to the United States under Fulbright program auspices.

The Fulbright legacy in Nepal is evident through the impact of grantees who have returned home to share their experiences, develop follow-on projects, and engage in lifelong collaborations that benefit their communities. The Commission plays a vital role in strengthening these international ties and promoting people-to-people connections.
