| USEF-Nepal conducts a variety of events each month in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, alumni, and partner educational institutions. See upcoming programs in our Events section below. We also would like to draw your attention to two outstanding opportunities for Nepalese students seeking higher education opportunities in the U.S.: The 2024-2025 Fulbright Foreign Student Program is accepting applications until May 1, 2023. The program provides all expenses for Master’s degree studies of up to two years at a U.S. university. The Opportunity Funds Program is accepting applications from students applying for Fall 2024 admission in Bachelor's programs at U.S. colleges and universities. The application deadline is March 20, 2023. |

| In February, USEF-Nepal organized outreach sessions at the U.S. Embassy’s American Corner in Dhangadhi, Kailali District. Staff conducted information sessions for the Fulbright Teaching Excellence Achievement (TEA) program for teacher exchange and the Foreign Student Program for fully-funded Master’s study in the U.S. Fulbright TEA alum Suman Shrestha shared his life-changing experiences in the U.S. and urged teachers to take the leap and apply for the program this year. U.S. Student Researcher Claudia “Perrin” Krisko conducted a workshop on essay and resume writing. Perrin is currently based in Dhanghadi comparing common types of air pollution exposures in rural, peri-urban, and urban areas outside of the Kathmandu Valley. She uses community-based data to create materials that promote locally-relevant and data-based knowledge about air pollution. South and Central Asia Fulbright Conference

| On February 27 to March 1, the U.S.-India Educational Foundation hosted the South and Central Asia Fulbright Conference in Kochi, India. This was the first time the conference was held since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. More than 140 Fulbrighters and staff from U.S. embassies and Fulbright commission in Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan participated in this event. Seven U.S. Student Researchers and U.S. Scholars from Nepal had the opportunity to share their academic works and ongoing research findings with the participants. |

| Opportunity Funds 2024 Application Open |
| | The EducationUSA Advising Center announced the opening of applications for the Opportunity Funds Program 2024 for financially disadvantaged students with outstanding academic records. Participants receive selected up-front costs associated with applying to U.S. colleges and universities such as standardized test fees, application fees, and student visa fees. They also receive dedicated advising. The current application cycle is for students applying for Fall 2024 admission in Bachelor's programs in U.S. colleges and universities. For information and to apply, please visit https://opportunity.usefnepal.org/. USEF-Nepal is conducting three virtual Q&A sessions at 3:00 p.m. on March 3, 10 or 17. | | In February, USEF-Nepal bid a fond farewell to Ms. Parvati Sunam, who had served as a Test Center Administrator at the Prometic Test Center for more than 8 years. During this period, she helped administer computer-based academic and professional tests to thousands of aspiring candidates who wished to go for their higher studies or professional practices in the US and other countries. We wish her all the best in her upcoming endeavors. |

| The Fulbright Alumni Association Nepal (FAAN) organized the inaugural event of the Stree-Shakti Project on February 3 and the first batch of learning workshops on Februarly 4-6 at USEF-Nepal. Gracing the inception program were Mon Devi Shrestha, Deputy Director General at the Department of Electricity Development; Sarah J. Knight, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Nepal; Shanker Khagi, Energy Specialist at USAID Nepal; and Nick Langton, Executive Director of USEF-Nepal. The Stree-Shakti Project aims to promote women in the energy sector by increasing their access to information and providing networking opportunities to encourage young women to pursue a career in energy sector in Nepal. The project is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal through the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2022, and is implemented by FAAN under the leadership of President Kirti K. Joshi. The project team includes four Fulbright Alumni from Nepal: Shweta Dhoubhadel, Sanjana Chhantyal, Jony Mainaly, and Purna Nepali. Master’s information session at American Center |
| The American Centre at the U.S. Embassy, Nepal hosted an information sharing session on February 28 with Fulbright Foreign Student Program alumni Apurba KC and Pravin Kumar. They provided information on the application process, spoke about their Fulbright experiences, and answered questions from the audience. |

| Apurba KC, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, is a lawyer with a passion for bridging the gap in service delivery between grassroots organizations and the government. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue her Master's degree in 2021-2022. Pravin Kumar is a civil engineer with an interest in hydrology and hydraulics. He works for the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation in the Government of Nepal. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue his Master's degree in 2020-2021 at Texas A&M University. |
