| | EducationUSA Spring Roadshow: Bringing U.S. Higher Education to Nepal | USEF-N conducted its 2025 EducationUSA Spring Roadshow on February 9-15, with 30 U.S. higher education representatives visiting 14 high schools in Pokhara, Chitwan, and Kathmandu. The delegation engaged over 3,400 students during their visit. The program culminated in a well-attended mini-fair at the EducationUSA Advising Center attended by 630 students. | Alumni Spotlight: Claire Mei Chavellier (ETA 2024) | This month, we celebrate Claire Mei Chavellier, a 2024 Fulbright Nepal ETA grantee placed at Kathmandu University High School (KUHS) in Dhulikhel. During her grant, Claire designed scaffolded materials to enhance English Language Arts instruction, ensuring students had access to comprehensive learning resources. She also led the KUHS Podcast Club, guiding 25 students in creating bi-monthly school news podcasts. To further support educators, Claire conducted a workshop on “Accessible Teaching Methods from the West,” introducing teachers to practical strategies for scaffolding and differentiation in the classroom. Her efforts extended beyond the school by facilitating a pen pal exchange between KUHS students and peers in Dayton, Ohio, fostering cross-cultural communication. She also played a key role in securing 60 novels to lead seventh graders in novel studies, enhancing their reading comprehension and analytical writing skills. Claire’s impact continues to resonate within the KUHS community and beyond. |
| | | Fulbright Outreach: Expanding Opportunities Nationwide | In January, USEF-N staff conducted information sessions across the country to expand awareness of our many programs. On January 3, a session at USEF Nepal provided secondary-level teachers with insights into the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) program. A week later, on January 10, two sessions in Ilam—one at the American Corner and another at Suryodaya Municipality—introduced teachers to professional development opportunities. During January 24-25, a visit to Mid-Western University in Surkhet provided students with details on the Global UGRAD and Fulbright Master's programs, while faculty members explored research and training grants. A dedicated TEA session at the American Corner Surkhet encouraged secondary teachers to apply for this prestigious program. Fulbright staff were also participated in the 29th International NELTA Conference, engaging with over 1,000 English teachers, trainers, and ELT practitioners. Their session spotlighted scholarship opportunities, including the TEA program, encouraging applications and professional growth.

| | | EducationUSA Advisers in Surkhet: Guiding the Next Generation | From January 27-29, EducationUSA advisers connected with 329 high school students in Surkhet, presenting the “5 Steps to U.S. Study” at leading institutions. These included Amar Jyoti Secondary School, Jana Model Secondary School, Kopila Valley School, Shri Shiva Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Siddhartha Pathshala, and SOS Hermann Gmeiner School. Students explored options for studying in the U.S., gained insights into financial aid, and had their questions answered by experienced advisers, ensuring they had the tools needed to make informed decisions about their academic futures. |
