| Since 1962, USEF-N has pursued its goal of mutual understanding through knowledge exchange between the United States and Nepal by supporting Nepalis to teach and study in the United States, while bringing Americans to teach and study in Nepal. The grantees traveling both directions are impressive and talented, representing a wide range of backgrounds and interests. This year’s American grantees are no exception. We enjoyed bringing 11 of them together in Bhaktapur on November 15 for our annual Fulbright Enrichment Program.
The grantees attending the program presented on a variety of topics, showcasing the depth and diversity of their academic and professional engagements in Nepal. Scholars and Student Researchers highlighted their ongoing and upcoming research, exploring Nepal’s cultural, social, and environmental landscapes. They shared their methodologies, preliminary findings, and the broader implications of their work for both local communities and their respective fields. The English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) described their experiences teaching English in schools in and around Kathmandu and shared the challenges and rewards of their work in local classrooms, discussing the teaching strategies they’ve adopted and how they’ve adjusted to the local educational environment.
The program concluded with a performance by Sukarma, headed by sitar master and Fulbright alumnus Dr. Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi, a tour of historic Bhaktapur by leading conservationist Rabindra Puri, and a group dinner.
